April 11: Not Made with Hands
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace…
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
The lyrics of this song by John Lennon made me so sad. It’s so contrary to what the Bible teaches us. What Lennon is describing is a perfect world here on earth without God. What Lennon fails to understand is that a perfect world can never exist without God, and it can never exist on this present earth. But there is a God and He has promised the perfect world in the new heaven and the new earth for those who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. And yes, there is a hell prepared for those who will not surrender to Jesus Christ.
At all times and in especially during this time of uncertainty and change, let us remember we can rest assured of the Lord’s presence with us whatever may come. May the promises of God for the new heavens and the new earth reassure us all.
“…But rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luke 10:20b
“So we do not lose heart.
Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.
For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed,
we have a building from God,
a house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens.”
1 Corinthians 5:1
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body,
by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.”
Philippians 3:20-21
Thank You, Lord, for the promise of heaven.
There is no greater assurance than this…
We can depend on Your Word,
as Your promises are true.
When we have those moments of doubt, when we feel afraid or anxious,
help us to recall Your words, "I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and
everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
John 11:25-26
