Hope Beyond

How Hope Beyond Began

Hope Beyond was born from a simple but powerful connection between two women who became pen pals while one was incarcerated. Through regular communication on an app (similar to texting), trust was built, hope was restored, a great friendship was formed, and a shared calling emerged. What began as a simple connection grew into a passion to serve other women walking through incarceration and reentry. Today, those same two women lead Hope Beyond together, giving back from their own lives redeemed by Jesus, their lived experiences, and compassion.

What We Offer

We exist to bring healing, dignity, and hope to women impacted by incarceration—both inside prison walls and throughout their reentry journey. Our programs are trauma-informed and relationship-centered, offering unconditional love, encouragement, support, and practical resources that help women rebuild their lives and foster restoration and resilience.

Our Pen Pal Program

At the heart of Hope Beyond is our Pen Pal Program, inspired directly by the stories of the founders, Celia Firl and Jodi DeMillo. We have a volunteer base of women in the church who also want to make a difference through caring relationships and consistent correspondence(through an app on the phone), to remind the women in prison that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. Our volunteers build meaningful connections and create a foundation of trust and belonging that often becomes the first step toward healing and renewed hope. These relationships bless both the giver and the receiver tremendously and open our eyes to the stigma surrounding this people group, as well as present powerful opportunities to share God’s great love!

Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives.
