Reality Conference RECAP (Chaos to Clarity)

The High School Ministry recently took a group of students to the "Reality Conference: Chaos to Clarity." The conference speakers spent their time equipping students on how to navigate through the confusion in the culture. Here are some takeaways!

Reality: The way Jesus sees life is reality! We must trust in the Word of God to teach us how to think and what to believe. We must test everything with the truth of God's word. (John 14:6)

Racial Tensions: When discussing racial tensions, start by clarifying terms. (Race, justice, repentance, equality, equity, love, discrimination, privilege, etc.) Stick to biblical definitions of terms & concepts. The Bible focuses on people's regions rather than skin color. (Genesis 1:27, Revelation 7:9)

Abortion: The core question is "What is it?" (Psalm 139:13) The fact is, it's a living human despite its S.L.E.D. (Size, Level of Development, Environment, Degree of Development).

Suicide: Our salvation is assured through the grace that comes from Christ's sacrifice! (John 1:12-13) However, the grace we have in Christ is not to be abused. (Romans 6:1-6) We trust that the Lord has us here to serve Him! (Ephesians 2:10) He will take us home in His timing, not ours.

LGBTQ+: Jesus is clear that any sexual activity outside of marriage is a sin. (Matthew 15:19, Mark 10:7-8) However, everything in life is worth sacrificing for the kingdom of God. (Matthew 13:44-46)

Resources:

One great resource we learned about is Stand to Reason, which “trains Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed, incisive, yet gracious defense for classical Christianity and classical Christian values in the public square (str.org).”
