Protect Life | Vote NO on Prop 1
In Genesis 1:27, the Bible affirms that every human life, including unborn human life, is created as a person in the image of God with inherent dignity and an eternal destiny. According to God our Creator, the unborn are individual persons with intrinsic value who God has purposefully handcrafted (Psalm 139:13-14, Job 31:15). The intentional taking of any human life is an act of sin against God (Exodus 20:13). Humanity, and we as believers, thus have an obligation to protect human life and oppose all efforts to attack human life and dignity.
In California this year, voters are faced with a choice to keep abortion law in our state as it is or to vote in favor of a new constitutional amendment (Prop 1) that would permanently expand and vastly increase abortions in our state, without truly coming alongside the vulnerable and providing them with the support they need. While we pray and labor for the day when every human life, both born and unborn, will be protected in law and welcomed in life, today we must unite to defeat this ballot initiative.
Tragically, our state currently has some of the most permissive abortion policies in the nation. This proposed new law would allow abortion for any reason up to viability (around 24 weeks of pregnancy) and late-term abortion to protect the life or health of the mother. The CA governor and legislation have vowed to make California an “abortion sanctuary.” They're making good on their promise through multiple bills to expand access to abortion and by allocating millions of dollars in the state budget to pay for abortions in California as well as those seeking abortion from out of state.
The California Legislature put Proposition 1 on the November ballot, and if it is approved by voters, it would override the current law and permanently allow taxpayer-funded late-term abortions without limit. Please take time to become educated on all that's involved in this Proposition, and vote NO on Prop 1. Above all, pray for God to move mightily in this matter through our votes and commitment to care and stand up for vulnerable women, men, and the unborn. Finally, never stop praying for the salvation of our Governor, our President, and other leaders who have yet to call on the name of Jesus for salvation, and trust in the Word of God as the ultimate proclamation of truth.
